View more presentations from Sylwia Presley. BarCamps were developed in Silicon Valley as an alternative to conferences with predefined agendas that have no place for unexpected ideas. Here, the whole process is open, from organisation through to attendance and content. Participants are encouraged to suggest sessions throughout the event, and new, ad-hoc meetings may occur as a result of conversations. Everyone is also encouraged to share their thoughts and findings afterwards, whether through blogging, photo uploads or other electronic media. BarCamp Transparency is being held to discuss open government, social media ethics and cyber activism. Increasingly, these are becoming high priority news items, and we expect this event to attract media attention.
